J.D. Martinez Could Be Back In Lineup On Monday

2 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora gave an update on injured outfielder J.D. Martinez (back) prior to Sunday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Even though Martinez is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game, the outfielder could be available off the bench. Cora also added that the hope is that he'll be able to return to the lineup for Monday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Martinez has yet to see the field since play resumed following the All-Star break as he's been dealing with back spasms. The 34-year-old has had a strong year at the plate for the Red Sox, slashing .302/.368/.481 with nine home runs, 30 doubles, 38 RBI and 51 runs across 81 games.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
