6 years agoFor the second time in as many starts, Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Jake Arrieta allowed five earned runs and failed to make it beyond the fifth inning. The Padres hit two home runs off Arrieta, who walked five batters and gave up a total of seven hits across four 2/3 innings. Arrieta now has an ERA of 4.29 on the year. His hard-hit rate of 38.8% is a scary increase from last year's 31.7%. There are some other scary peripherals as well, such as his strand rate increase from 68.1% in 2018 to 78.2% this year. Arrieta's been walking on thin ice so far this year and the bottom might be falling out soon. He's a risky start going forward.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
