7 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Jake Bauers will man first base and hit sixth against right-handed pitcher Mike Leake Thursday. It is expected by many that Bauers will be on the strong side of a platoon for the Rays. However, in the minors this season, Bauers has hit .309 with four home runs when facing left-handed pitchers, compared to just .264 with one home run when facing righties. In 2017, he also had a higher average against lefties, but hit 11 of his 13 home runs when facing right-handed pitching. Bauers has an opportunity to stake a claim for an everyday role with the Rays. If he does, then his power and speed potential make him in an interesting addition in roto leagues of all sizes.--Ben Rolfe
