Jake Diekman Gets Second Save Wednesday
7 years agoTexas Rangers relief pitcher Jake Diekman got his second save of the season Wednesday. The opportunity arose for Diekman, as Keone Kela was unavailable after picking up saves Saturday, Monday and Tuesday. Kela remains the primary closer for the Rangers, but it appears as though Diekman is the next man up. Diekman is a useful reliever to own, as he has 35 strikeouts in 27 2/3 innings and a 2.96 ERA. However, Kela has been good this season in save situations, and it seems unlikely that Diekman will get many opportunities to close in the near future unless Kela is traded at the deadline.
