6 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Jason Vargas will get the nod on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He gets the start in place of Steven Matz, who is being pushed back to Saturday due to a blister on his left middle finger. Vargas was originally supposed to be skipped this turn through the rotation, but we’ll now have to suffer through another start of his. In all seriousness, he has been better as of late. Vargas has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his last four starts (with two of them being scoreless), but of course the one exception was a typical Vargas blowup where he allowed five runs. You should still be avoiding him for fantasy purposes.--John Smith
