3 years agoBoston Red Sox shortstop prospect Jeter Downs will be making his MLB debut in Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. Xander Bogaerts will be given a day of rest for the game and Downs will fill in as the team's starting shortstop. Downs was called up from Triple-A on Monday, but he spent the first two games of the team's current series on the bench. The 23-year-old is one of the team's top prospects, but he's struggled at the plate at Triple-A over the past few years. This year, he's slashed just .180/.297/.397 over 53 games, though he's at least managed to compile 11 home runs.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
