4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder/designated hitter Joey Gallo is not among the club’s starting nine for Monday’s contest against Oakland and left-handed Jesus Luzardo. The move appears to be just a regular day off for Gallo, even though he has mashed southpaws this season to the tune of a .907 OPS with five home runs in 37 at-bats. The promotion of No. 3 prospect Leody Taveras allows Scott Heineman to slide over to right in Gallo’s stead. A premier power bat in any season-long format, Gallo’s next chance to return to the lineup comes Tuesday against A’s lefty Sean Manaea, whom he has gone 1-for-9 against in his career with the lone hit being a homer.--Jesse Borek
