7 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman/catcher John Hicks played a crucial role in Friday's victory over the Chicago White Sox. He hit his sixth homer of the year off of Reynaldo Lopez in the second inning, and later scored the go-ahead run in the eighth inning. Hicks went 2-for-4 on the night overall with two runs scored, and is now hitting a robust .301/.339/.472 with his six home runs to go along with 23 RBI. In his last seven games, Hicks is hitting .474/.500/.737. Hicks now seems to have a firm hold on the every day first baseman role, and adds an extra layer of intrigue due to his eligibility at the very-shallow catcher position. Add with confidence in AL-only or deeper mixed leagues, and take a hard look at him in shallower leagues if you're in need of a catcher.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
