John Hicks Will See More Playing Time
6 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman and catcher John Hicks just saw his fantasy stock increase. With the injury to Miguel Cabrera (biceps) that will require season-ending surgery, Hicks will be the recipient of considerably more playing time. Though he had been the backup catcher, he will slot in as the everyday first baseman for now, and his dual-position eligibility makes him an intriguing option for fantasy owners who may be thin at the catcher position. Hicks is slashing .297/.337/.445 with five homers and 22 RBI in 155 at-bats thus far, and he should consistently hit fifth in the lineup going forward. It's no coincidence his ownership has gone up eight percent since Wednesday.
