Jonah Heim Makes Rangers Opening Day Roster
3 years agoTexas Rangers catcher Jonah Heim will be on the Opening Day roster after Saturday's trade of fellow backstop Jose Trevino, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Heim, 26, made his debut last season, appearing in 82 games, but hit an unimpressive .196 with 10 HRs and three stolen bases. He will presumably back up recent acquisition Mitch Garver but could see a good amount of playing time if the former Twin, who has yet to play a full season in the big leagues, can't stay healthy. Fantasy managers shouldn't be drafting Heim but can monitor his playing time throughout the season. He's shown the ability to hit and, as recently as 2019, slashed .310/.385/.477 with nine home runs over 85 games split between Double and Triple-A.
