6 years agoMemphis Grizzlies center Jonas Valanciunas made quite the first impression, recording a double-double off the bench during Tuesday’s loss to the San Antonio Spurs, his first with his new franchise. After Valanciunas had been questionable to suit up as he dealt with travel issues, he firmly made his case for becoming the team’s starting center moving forward, logging 23 points and 10 rebounds in just 21 minutes. He outdrew both Joakim Noah (18) and Ivan Rabb (11) for minutes, so keep an eye on his workload Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls to get a better idea of where he may stand heading into the second half of the year.--Jesse Borek
