Jordan Zimmermann Knocked Around By Brewers
6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann has had a bit of an issue with the long ball this year (1.9 HR/9), and that problem cropped up again in a 5-4 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. Zimmermann went four innings, gave up four runs on eight hits, and struck out four while walking two against the Brew Crew. He was given a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but promptly gave up a two-run shot to Christian Yelich and a solo bomb to Ryan Braun in the bottom of the inning. Zimmermann was handed the no-decision, which results in a season ending record of 7-9, a 4.52 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, and a 111/26 strikeout-to-walk ratio over his 131 1/3 innings in 2018. Though his K/BB ratio is nice, there are too many red flags associated with Zimmermann to put too much weight into his fantasy baseball stock for 2019.
