3 years agoBaltimore Orioles shortstop Jorge Mateo is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against right-hander Chris Flexen and the Seattle Mariners. Chris Owings will be getting the start at shortstop and batting ninth in the game. Mateo closed out May on a five-game hitting streak that included two doubles, a triple and a home run. The 26-year-old has been a fantastic source of stolen bases this year with 13 on 14 attempts. He's hitting just .220/.251/.354 on the year, so it's no surprise that he's been mostly batting ninth for the Orioles. If he could increase his batting average and add just a little more power (three home runs on the year), he could be a fantasy gem. For now, he remains a stolen base specialist who is a strong starting option in most rotisserie and head-to-head categories leagues.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
