Josh Jacobs Ready To Capitalize In Starting Role
5 years agoOakland Raiders running back Josh Jacobs received a vote of confidence by the team when veteran Doug Martin was released over the weekend. Deandre Washington will now be Jacobs’ primary backup, with Jalen Richard getting repetitions in the passing game. Neither of these backs are a threat to take away significant playing time from the first-round rookie, and Jacobs will handle the bulk of the carries right out of the gate in Week 1. Jacobs has the talent to handle an every-down role, but it remains to be seen how involved he’ll be in the passing game immediately. The Alabama product is an upside RB2 to target in drafts with a high ceiling if he can prove to be a reliable pass-catcher.
