Josh Jacobs Sees Plenty Of Work In Preseason Opener
2 years agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Josh Jacobs started in the Hall of Fame preseason game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday and played in multiple series, rushing five times for 30 yards while adding two catches for 14 yards. "I always think it's good for backs to carry the ball in the preseason," head coach Josh McDaniels said. "There's a lot of things that happen when you're getting tackled and hit that you can't simulate in practice." Jacobs' heavy involvement in the first preseason raised eyebrows, but he's battling Kenyan Drake and rookie Zamir White for snaps in the offense this year. White looked good Thursday, running for 52 yards on 11 carries, also catching three of four targets for 23 yards. The Raiders backfield could be headed for a committee approach involving Jacobs, Drake and White in 2022.
