3 years agoBoston Red Sox manager Alex Cora hinted that pitching prospect Josh Winckowski could be a candidate to start one of the games in the team's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles next Saturday. Winckowski is ranked as the team's No. 13 overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. He has made six starts at Triple-A this year and he's pitched to a 2.10 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP while averaging 9.8 K/9. However, he hasn't been going very deep in his starts, pitching just 25.2 total innings across those six outings. The 23-year-old is currently part of the team's 40-man roster. He has yet to pitch in the majors, so next Saturday could wind up being his MLB debut.--Andrew Ericksen - RotoBaller
