Justin Upton Sits Against Left-Hander On Saturday
4 years agoLos Angeles Angels outfielder Justin Upton was supposed to make up a platoon with Brian Goodwin upon the arrival of Jo Adell, but Upton finds himself on the pine Saturday against Rangers left-hander Kolby Allard. Instead, Taylor Ward draws the start in left field. Hammering the ball with an average exit velocity of 94.1 MPH, Ward has been unlucky with a .192 BA through his first 10 games. The Angels owe Upton a pile of money through the 2022 season, which may entice them to try and heat up his bat, even as he has begun the year hitting .109 with 19 strikeouts in 46 at-bats. At this stage, Upton cannot be relied upon in season-long leagues due to playing time constrictions and can be dropped to the waiver wire in virtually all formats.
