5 years agoLos Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard played some of his best basketball of the season on Friday night. In his team's 124-117 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Leonard recorded a season-high 42 points along with 11 rebounds, and two assists. He shot 10-for-24 from the field but was a perfect 19-for-19 from the free-throw line. The 19 free throw attempts were a new career-high for Kawhi. He had 31 points in the first half and inevitably slowed down in the second as the Clippers stretched their lead to over 20 points before a furious comeback attempt by the Timberwolves made the game close. The Clippers play one more game in Week 8 on Saturday night, and it is possible that Leonard sits that game as part of his load management plan to let him play at full strength deep into the NBA season and playoffs.--Euan Leith
