5 years agoPhoenix Suns forward Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) is expected to travel with the team for the upcoming restart in Orlando. The Suns are not ready to rule out Oubre yet, according to general manager Jason Jones. It was reported back in mid-June that Oubre was unlikely to play, but the Suns appear to be taking the wait-and-see approach. The Suns are facing an uphill battle for the No. 8 seed, so they don't have much incentive to rush Oubre back to the court. Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson would benefit if Oubre sits out. Bridges could be an interesting cheap option for DFS contests.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

3 years agoCharlotte Hornets forward Kelly Oubre Jr. (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Miami Heat. It's a shame that Oubre won't get to follow up his 39-point performance on Wednesday. However, he should be back soon and fantasy managers should monitor him in fantasy formats. Oubre appears to be heating up, so now might be the best time to snag him. Cody Martin should get increased playing time with Oubre sidelined here. However, he's not exactly a strong fantasy option and can be ignored in most formats.--Andy Webb - RotoBaller

3 years agoCharlotte Hornets shooting guard/small forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has been cleared to suit up for Wednesday's contest vs. Boston, stemming his absence under the league's health and safety protocols at four games. Oubre has morphed into a long-range dynamo during his first season with the Hornets, with his 2.9 made triples on a nightly basis tied for 15th in the league entering play Wednesday. While his rebounding totals have dipped, he is on pace to shoot a career-best 45.8 percent overall, and his role as the team's No. 1 scoring option on the second unit boosts his upside.--Jesse Borek

3 years agoCharlotte Hornets forward Kelly Oubre Jr. remains listed as out ahead of Monday's matchup in New York. The veteran has missed his previous three games while adhering to the league's COVID-19 health and safety protocols. His next chance to make it back will come on Wednesday in Boston. However, in the meantime, Cody Martin could see an uptick in production from off the bench until Oubre can make it back.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

3 years agoCharlotte Hornets shooting guard/small forward Kelly Oubre Jr. has been added to the league's health and safety protocols, ruling him out indefinitely, beginning with Monday's game vs. Milwaukee. The absence will mark the first of the season for Oubre, who has enjoyed an excellent offensive year in Charlotte by averaging 16.6 points per game. The 2.9 threes that the southpaw shooter has averaged would far and away set a new career-best and are tied for the 15th-most in the league. It remains to be seen how the Hornets second unit will compensate for the loss of Oubre's scoring punch, but Ish Smith, Cody Martin and P.J. Washington are all candidates to take on elevated offensive roles.--Jesse Borek
