4 years agoMinnesota Twins starting pitcher Kenta Maeda didn't factor into the decision in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Maeda pitched five innings, allowing three runs on three hits with six strikeouts compared to one walk. The veteran right-hander surrendered a two-run homer to Franmil Reyes- who continues to give him trouble- and an RBI single to Austin Hedges but settled in to toss three scoreless the rest of the way. The velocity on all of Maeda's pitches was considerably down, and he was removed after just 73 pitches, citing that his groin tightness flared up. He said that he wasn't at 100 percent leading up to the start, so it will be interesting to see how the Twins handle this. If he's forced to miss a start, Randy Dobnak could be in line for another spot start.--Tim Capurso
