5 years agoFormer Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving has agreed to a deal to join the Brooklyn Nets for the 2019-2020 NBA season. The move likely means that All-Star guard D’Angelo Russell will be leaving Brooklyn, setting Irving up to slide into his starting spot and enable the Nets to run an even more effective offense. Last year, Irving and Russell essentially put up the same number of shots per game and dished out the same amount of assists, but Irving was a more efficient scorer from the perimeter and in the paint, which allowed him to average 2.7 more points per game. Irving’s first season as a Net should look a lot like his final season as a Celtic from a statistical perspective, though it’s worth noting that Irving has played fewer than 70 games in three of the past four seasons, which makes him a little riskier than Russell from a fantasy perspective, even if Irving’s averages will surpass Russell’s.--Justin Carter - RotoBaller
