Lakers Acquire Isaiah Thomas, Channing Frye
7 years agoThe Los Angeles Lakers have traded Jordan Clarkson and Larry Nance to Cleveland for point guard Isaiah Thomas, power forward Channing Frye and a first-round draft pick. The move helps the Lakers in the long run because it clears space for them to offer a pair of max contracts in the offseason. Thomas has struggled with Cleveland this year, but he could rebound in a new situation, though a lot of that depends on the Lakers plans for him. With Lonzo Ball expected to return from a knee sprain after the All-Star break and Brandon Ingram being used more as a point guard, Thomas could find his path to playing time difficult. Thomas could have fantasy value, but it will depend a lot on his role with the team. Frye, meanwhile, will find himself buried on the depth chart behind a cast of young L.A. bigs.
