2 years agoSeattle Mariners catcher Luis Torrens was designated for assignment Thursday. He struggled at the plate this season, slashing .214/.262/.252 with one homer, 10 RBI, and nine runs across 46 games in 2022. The 26-year-old was designated for assignment to open a roster spot for catcher Curt Casali. Seattle acquired Casali (oblique) and Matthew Boyd (elbow) from the Giants before the trade deadline in exchange for right-hander Michael Stryffeler. Casali will serve as Seattle's top backup catcher to Cal Raleigh after slashing .231/325/.370 with four homers and 14 RBI across 41 games in 2022.--Brad Camara - RotoBaller
