Marcus Smart Misses Potential Game-Winner, Scuffles From Field
5 years agoBoston Celtics point/shooting guard Marcus Smart had a chance to win the game at the buzzer Sunday versus the Sacramento Kings, but his shot falling off the rim was emblematic of his performance as a whole. Smart scuffled to the tune of 2-for-16 shooting overall, including going 1-for-8 from deep, as he finished with five points, his first single-digit scoring effort in 10 days. Despite his shooting woes, Smart managed to collect a season-best nine assists and add five rebounds as his starting spot seems to be firmly entrenched in the absence of Gordon Hayward. He’ll have a somewhat stingy matchup against the Suns on Monday, although he retains a high floor due to his ability to contribute on the defensive end.
