4 years agoBoston Celtics point/shooting guard Marcus Smart entered the starting five for Saturday’s loss to the Phoenix Suns with both Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown unavailable and had the offensive performance of his professional career. Smart finished with a career-high 37 points, having knocked a career-best 11 triples (which also set a franchise record) during a performance that can be described as nothing short of Hardenian in its totality. Smart shot 13-for-25 from the floor overall, including 11-for-22 from three; entering the night, he had never attempted more than 12 triples in a regular-season contest. In addition to his enormous scoring output, he also added eight assists, five rebounds and four steals. While anything mirroring this level of production can be seen as an extreme outlier, Smart could once again be in store for a considerable workload Monday against the Lakers should both Walker and Brown remain out of the mix.--Jesse Borek
