Mariners Pleased With Yusei Kikuchi Despite Loss
5 years agoSeattle Mariners starting pitcher Yusei Kikuchi gave up three runs during the Spring Training loss to the Texas Rangers. The second-year international star started off hot, striking out both Shin-Soo Choo and Nick Solak to start the game before allowing four hits and a walk. Despite making it just over an inning and taking a loss, team officials praised the 28-year-old lefty, who spent the entire offseason working on his mechanics. Kikuchi finished 6-11 in 2019 and is slated to start behind Marco Gonzales in the rotation. Though fantasy managers will benefit from his ability to strike out batters, they may do so at the expense of taking a hit in the ERA category.
