6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Martin Perez did a solid job of going deep and avoiding major damage against the Seattle Mariners Monday. Martin pitched seven innings, struck out three while surrendering 10 hits, two walks and three earned runs. This continues a relatively solid run of results for Perez since returning from the disabled list. In five starts, Perez has pitched 30 1/3 innings and surrendering just 12 earned runs. When you consider that half of those came in one start it shows how solid he has been in the other four starts. The only thing stopping Perez having fantasy value right now is his lack of strikeouts, he has just 20 in those five starts. Long-term Perez is looking to lock down a starting spot for 2019, but even if he does he still will not have fantasy value unless he can increase his strikeouts drastically at the end of this season.--Ben Rolfe
