6 years agoTexas Rangers starting pitcher Martin Perez is hoping to head out on a rehab assignment on Monday. Perez threw live batting practice to Carlos Tocci and Robinson Chirinos ahead of the game Wednesday. Plans for a rehab assignment have not been confirmed by the Rangers, who may want to take it slowly with their left-handed pitcher. Perez struggled to start the year, but that may have been due to him rushing back from a broken arm in the offseason. Perez has a 9.67 ERA and 13 strikeouts in 22 1/3 innings with the Rangers this season. Perez does not make for an attractive fantasy option until he has shown that he is over the troubles he had to start the season.--Ben Rolfe
