4 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals left-handed pitching prospect Matthew Liberatore was brought in to throw a simulated game in order to help Paul DeJong and Yadier Molina ramp up for big league pitching. Ranked as the Cardinals’ No. 3 prospect -- and No. 62 overall in the Majors -- per MLB Pipeline, Liberatore is yet to make his Major League debut, but his being tabbed for such a role shows St. Louis’ belief in his abilities. He has compiled a 2.59 ERA across 111 Minor League innings thus far in his career, striking out 113 batters. Still just 20 years old, Liberatore should be a cornerstone of keepers leagues for years to come as owners await his arrival.--Jesse Borek
