Maverick McNealy Looks to Contend in San Diego
3 years agoMaverick McNealy returns to Southern California in good form. In his last 12 tournaments, the American has 11 made cuts and seven top 25-finishes and showed some of that momentum a few weeks ago at the Sony Open, where he finished 27th-place and gained 4.6 strokes tee-to-green. McNealy has decent course history at Torrey Pines, even with his missed cut last year, but a 15th and 29th show that the property suits his eye. The Poa greens on the South course should be a massive benefit, as he ranks seventh in this field when putting on the surface. The 26-year-old has seven measured rounds at the South Course in his career, ranking 15th in the event in strokes gained tee-to-green. Consider McNealy a nice play in all formats this week.
