3 years agoChicago White Sox relief pitcher Michael Kopech struggled in an inning of relief and picked up the loss on Thursday versus the Oakland Athletics. Kopech was called upon for the top of the seventh inning in a tie game, but allowed two hits, two runs and struck out one during his lone inning of work. Kopech was the victim of Matt Olson's 31st home run and that gave the Athletics a two-run lead at the time. Kopech was lights out in the first half of the season, but struggled in July with a 4.91 ERA. Despite his rough month of July, Kopech had thrown four consecutive outings entering Thursday. Kopech has mostly worked out of the bullpen this season and is 3-2 with a 2.74 ERA. Even with the rough outing on Thursday, Kopech is valuable in leagues that count ratios and he now has 68 strikeouts in 49 1/3 innings with a 1.07 WHIP.--Daniel Burdeen - RotoBaller
