Miguel Cabrera Logs First RBI Thursday
6 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera overcame his early-season woes, at least momentarily, to drive in his first RBI of the season Thursday. The veteran slugger has managed just four hits in 27 at-bats thus far, amounting to a .148 average to start the season. Cabrera has been hitting the ball on the ground a lot, with an average launch angle of 9.5. And while he's hitting it hard about half the time, unless he can get the ball in the air, it won't do it much good. The biggest issue, though, has been his enormous 27.3 percent strikeout rate. Fantasy owners who took a gamble on a bounce-back year for Miggy are surely hoping Thursday's productivity is a sign that the big man is turning the corner.
