Miguel Cabrera Resting Against Royals
2 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman/designated hitter Miguel Cabrera is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Kansas City Royals. Cabrera is hitting only .214 (9-for-42) with nine RBI and nine strikeouts in 12 games in the month of July, and he hasn't homered since May 15. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer just doesn't have the power anymore (only three home runs on the season), but he does have a very useful .287 batting average with 34 RBI, 19 runs scored and a stolen base in 275 at-bats. Harold Castro will serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth on Wednesday against Royals right-hander Brady Singer. Castro has been similarly cold recently, going 5-for-25 (.200) with no homers or RBI in seven games in the last two weeks for Detroit.
