6 years agoDetroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (biceps) said he could play right now if the Tigers were in the playoffs. “If we were going to play in the playoffs, I think I’d be able to be ready right now,” Cabrera said during his charity foundation's "Miggy Ball 24" event at The Corner Ballpark. “But they don’t want to push me, because we got a lot of time. But I talked to the trainers, the doctor and if we got a chance to go to the playoffs — if it was a big chance — I could play right now.” Cabrera ruptured his biceps tendon during a swing on June 12 and was lost for the season. He expects to make a full recovery and be ready for spring training in 2019. The 35-year-old has been bothered by injuries the last three seasons, and they have affected his performance at the plate. He's still owed $154 million over the next five years. Cabrera expects to start swinging a bat in December, but fantasy owners won't be rushing to draft Miggy next spring because of his declining numbers and injuries.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
