6 years agoDetroit Tigers starting pitcher Mike Fiers had another very quality outing on Saturday afternoon against the Texas Rangers, working six solid innings and allowing just one earned run off of five hits in a win. He also recorded six strikeouts and walked just one. The earned run came on a homer in the sixth inning off the bat of Rougned Odor, but Fiers was able to get Jurickson Profar out to end his outing and record the quality start. This is now the third straight outing in which Fiers has gone six innings or more, allowed one earned run or less, and allowed five hits or less. Impressively, his ERA is now down to 3.65 and sits at 6-5 on the year. Though he's been on a hot streak over his last eight starts or so, Fiers is still not quite a valuable fantasy asset in standard leagues. His lack of wins, poor strikeout numbers and terrible home run rate (1.6 HR/9) make him a hard pitcher to trust. Keep an eye on his starts moving forward, however, and take a flier on him if you're in deeper or AL-only leagues and are in need of pitching help.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
