5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas got rocked by the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night, giving up eight hits, five earned runs, and a walk over five innings in the 9-0 loss. He gave up a grand slam to Garrett Cooper in the sixth inning and only registered four strikeouts against the mostly-punchless Marlins lineup. Mikolas is now 4-7 on the season with a 4.83 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and a 57/15 K/BB ratio over 78 and 1/3 innings. To say this year has been disappointing for Mikolas would be an understatement - he went 18-4 with a 2.83 ERA in a breakthrough 2018. With a 1.6 HR/9, 6.5 K/9, and a 9.4% swinging strike rate in 2019 combined with his terrible surface numbers, it's time to start considering the possibility that his 2018 season was a mirage. He has been especially terrible in his last seven starts, and fantasy owners would be wise to either try to sell-low or to bench him until he improves his form.--Kyle Ringstad - RotoBaller
