4 years agoMinnesota Twins catcher Mitch Garver is not in Tuesday's lineup for the second game of the series against the Tigers. Backup Ryan Jeffers will be behind the plate for the third time in five games against right-handed starting pitcher Casey Mize. MLB.com's Do-Hyoung Park notes that the Twins prefer to have Garver in the lineup against left-handed pitching, so he'll get a second straight day off before likely catching the first two games of the next series against the Mariners on Thursday and Saturday against southpaws. Garver has a career .889 OPS against lefties, so he'll be well-positioned to have a good day at the plate against Seattle.--Tim Capurso
