4 years agoNew York Mets left-handed pitcher Steven Matz is expected back “soon,” per manager Luis Rojas, who revealed Friday that the southpaw should be activated off of the injured list in the coming days. Matz threw a bullpen session Friday, a likely indicator that a return is near after his stint on the IL due to left shoulder bursitis. Matz has been walloped this season with an 8.63 ERA across six appearances (five starts), losing his spot in the starting rotation. Despite that, New York would welcome him back in some capacity as injuries and lack of performance have dwindled the club’s options at many key spots. Check back for an update on when Matz will be officially activated, and in what capacity.--Jesse Borek
