6 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Nomar Mazara is still struggling with his thumb injury. Initially the injury was not expected to keep Mazara out for long, but it has now been over two weeks and he does not appear close to returning. Mazara's thumb is painful when he hits and even worse when he tries to play catch, having just got through a catching session Monday in Arizona. Mazara was in the middle of a breakout season in 2018. In 388 plate appearances, he had 15 home runs and a major league career high .272 batting average. With the Rangers struggling there is a small possibility they may decide to shut him down for the foreseeable future, to prevent damaging the thumb further. Mazara's talent makes it hard to part ways with in fantasy, but in shallow leagues now is the time to consider finding an alternative.--Ben Rolfe
