3 years agoCameron Tringale had a nice showing at Harbour Town. He recorded a top 15-place finish. He gained three strokes tee-to-green along with 2.5 on approach in Hilton Head. He has now gained strokes on approach in five straight events. Tringale is projected to be in the single digits. He is sandwiched between a very popular Gary Woodland and Aaron Wise. This will help in making Tringale a contrarian play. Lastly, he ranks sixth in the field on approach over the last 24 rounds. Tringale is a good pivot play off chalky guys in his price range. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoRussell Knox is projected to have low fantasy ownership this week for The Mexico Open. Knox surprisingly missed the cut at The RBC Heritage in his last start. However, the 35-year-old Scot has played well this year. He finished in sixth place at The Players, where he gained 7.9 strokes from tee-to-green. That was Knox's fifth straight event gaining strokes from tee-to-green. While the course this week appears to be long, Knox could rely on his excellent approach play to carry him. Knox is a good option in DFS, especially with most fantasy enthusiasts sleeping on him.--Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoAbraham Ancer is currently projected to be one of the highest-owned golfers in the field. Ancer has not played well as of late. He arrives in Mexico off two missed cuts and has not finished better than 33rd this year. Although he was born in Texas, Ancer was raised in Mexico. His current form is not great, he has a high salary, and this is the first time we are seeing this course. These factors may identify that home-country narratives are the reason for his high ownership. Going purely on emotional reasons can get fantasy managers into trouble in DFS.--Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoPatrick Reed is currently projected to be in the single digits ownership-wise. Reed has not played well this year. Before The Players, he recorded three straight missed cuts. He played well at The Players, thanks to the putter. He also showed some form at The Masters where he finished in 35th-place. Reed's very recent form, low ownership, and back class could present some upside this week. He is the ultimate GPP play. Reed finished second that week at low ownership and came in with terrible form. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoGreyson Sigg has been OK lately on the PGA Tour. He has made eight of the last 10 cuts. However, the American golfer missed out at the Zurich Open. Sigg could not make enough birdies. It appears that it may be a bit more difficult at times to make birdies at the Mexican Open. The problem is Sigg does not excel at one particular thing. His metrics all rank right around average or about 100th or so. Because of that, Sigg does not make enough shots and birdies. If the course plays difficult, he may have a decent shot at an above-average result.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

3 years agoThe Mexican golfer comes home to a familiar golf course, and considering all his struggles, it is hard to expect much from Carlos Ortiz this week. Too many errant shots and a ranking of 206 on strokes gained around the green are obstacles that will be tough to overcome. He can drain putts (4.1 per round), but with so many bad shots and poor accuracy, expecting a lot out of Ortiz isn't smart. His 71.56 scoring average only ranks 149th. A golfer will not contend often while approaching a 72. There are better options out there this week.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

3 years agoScott Stallings is a bit of an up-and-down player. However, when he is on, the American golfer can contend in tournaments. He is a top-35 putter, can drive the ball 300 yards, and is pretty good around the green (0.12 strokes gained). The problem with Stallings is his accuracy. It has been that way forever. That is why he misses several cuts and contends a few times in a row. There is little in between. When a golfer loses a quarter of a stroke off the tee and while approaching the green, that makes it harder to drain birdie chances. Expect the unexpected with Stallings again this week.--Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

3 years agoThe English golfer has looked better over the past two tournaments. Though he cannot drive the ball the furthest (just 292.5 yards), Aaron Rai has been effective everywhere else when it comes to the first three rounds of a tournament. Last week, Rai was this close to winning the Zurich Open until a 72 derailed his chances. Still a tied for fourth finish is significant. Rai does rank 152nd in putting with -0.21 strokes gained. In that final round last week, Rai missed several "makable" putts. Dropping putts throughout the tournament is vital. --Chris Wassel - RotoBallerSource: PGATour.com

3 years agoThe best finish in the career of Harold Varner III came last season at the RBC Heritage. Varner finished in second place, after a final round 66. Now, Varner comes into the 2022 RBC Heritage off three top-25 finishes in his last four starts. In that stretch, Varner finished T6 at The Players Championship, his best finish of the season. Outside of his second-place finish last season, Varner hasn't had success at Harbour Town. Varner missed the cut in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and had a best finish of 59th before that. However, with his recent play, and above average putting and iron play, Varner is worth a look this week. --Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoLuke List comes into the RBC Heritage looking to turn around his game. Since his win at the Farmers Insurance Open in January, List hasn't recorded a finish inside the top-30 in the seven starts in that span. List also doesn't have much history to fall back on at Harbour Town. In his seven starts, List only has one finish inside the top-30, however, that was a third-place finish in 2018. List however is a top-25 player on approach, but his putting is outside the top-200 on tour. With all things considered, List is one to stay away from this week.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoAfter a first-round 69 at the Masters last week, Joaquin Niemann appeared to be in a great spot to compete for his first Major Championship. However, after shooting 74, 77, and 74 in the final three rounds, it wasn't meant to be for Niemann. Now, Niemann will look for his first top-20 since February at the RBC Heritage. Niemann did have a nice showing in his only start at Harbour Town back in 2020, recording a fifth-place finish. The concern this week for Niemann will be the putter. Niemann has the approach game to play at Harbour Town, but his 133rd best putting might come back to haunt him. His DFS price is fair, but it could be another underwhelming week for Niemann in South Carolina. --Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoRussell Henley has had boom-or-bust history at Harbour Town in his career. Henley has made four of eight cuts in his career at the RBC Heritage. However, all of his made cuts have resulted in finishes inside the top-30. With that, two of those four finishes resulted in top-tens. So, if Henley can find a way to make the cut, it could be a big week for him. Henley currently sits first on the PGA Tour in strokes gained on approach, a key stat this week. He also sits inside the top-ten in strokes gained tee to green, and strokes gained total. Henley's last missed cut came at The Open Championship. Yes, the 2021 Open in July 2021. Henley is still perfect on the 2022 season, and has big upside this week.--Kasey Kuhrts - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoJordan Spieth missed the cut at The Masters for the first time in his career last week. His performance last week is the reason his ownership is in the single digits. Before The Masters, Spieth had gained strokes on approach in four straight events. The putter has been his Achilles heel. He has lost strokes putting in four events this year, highlighted by losing 7.2 at The Valero Texas Open. Spieth's low ownership presents an opportunity to capitalize on recency bias. While risky, Spieth could provide some nice leverage this week. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoIan Poulter name was mentioned in an article this week that links him to the Saudi Golf League. This was not a surprise as rumors about Poulter's involvement have been alive for some time. The question now is, will this news impact Poulter's performance this week? He is currently not in good form. His best finish this year is a 30th-place finish at The Honda Classic. Poulter does have decent history at Harbour Town and will hope to use that to improve his play. His currently projected to be low owned. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour

3 years agoAlexander Noren has recorded three straight top 30-place finishes at Harbour Town. However, he has played better than his results. Noren ranks eighth in Drafkings points and 14th in strokes gained total at Harbour Town. He also comes to Hilton Head in great form. He has gained strokes tee-to-green in six straight events. Over the last 24 rounds, Noren ranks 11th in the field on approach. At low ownership, Noren could be a key play this week. --Rob Giltner - RotoBallerSource: PGA Tour
