Paul Sewald Blows Save, Gets Gift Win
3 years agoSeattle Mariners relief pitcher Paul Sewald did not get the job done Saturday, giving up back-to-back walks before yielding a three-run home run to Jared Walsh in a disastrous eighth inning. He did strike out three batters in his inning of work. Sewald was fortunate that the offense bounced back in the bottom half of the inning, leaving him with a gift 10th win on the season. Sewald has been fallible of late, seeing his ERA and WHIP rise to 3.06 and 1.02 for the season. He's managed to reach 104 strikeouts in just 64 2/3 innings, which speaks to how significant his fantasy contributions have been despite lacking a consistent closer role.
