Peyton Barber Heading For Expanded Role
3 years agoLas Vegas Raiders running back Peyton Barber could see an expanded role against the Steelers in Week 2 after starter Josh Jacobs (toe, ankle) was ruled out ahead of time. While Kenyan Drake is the next man up, the growing expectation is that Barber, too, will see a significant workload. While speaking to the media on Friday, head coach Jon Gruden offered a glowing report on Barber and said that he is "excited about this opportunity to see what we have." The five-year veteran spent four seasons in Tampa Bay before joining the Washington Football Team in 2020. Through 16 games (two starts) in Washington, he accrued 94 touches for 258 yards and four scores. In Week 2, Barber is a risky option and only worth considering in deeper leagues. Depending on how many touches he gets, the 27-year-old might need to score in order to be worth starting.
