Pistons Select French Prospect Sekou Doumbouya
6 years agoThe Detroit Pistons have selected Sekou Doumbouya with the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Detroit was desperate for wings going into this offseason and was able to acquire Tony Snell from the Milwaukee Bucks. Now they were able to select 6’9” forward Doumbouya out of France. Doumbouya’s stats don’t stand out due to limited minutes, but he has the makings of being a high-flying threat in transition as 22.0 percent of his possessions were in transition. Doumbouya should pair up nicely with a rim-running Andre Drummond and play-making Blake Griffin, but there are also glaring issues. Doumbouya has struggled with basketball IQ and bad footwork. Doumbouya has a habit of picking up his dribble in double teams which can lead to unnecessary turnovers on the big stage. If there was a way to summarize Doumbouya, he is the most raw prospect in the draft with the most untapped potential. This is more of a wait-and-see approach in fantasy, but the upside could be worth the risk once he develops more.
