Rajon Rondo Drops Season-High 22 Points Amid Double-Double
5 years agoLos Angeles Lakers point guard Rajon Rondo saw an enormous offensive workload without LeBron James (illness) available for Saturday’s win over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Rondo set new season highs in scoring (22) and rebounding (12), while coming just two assists shy of logging his first triple-double of the year. Just how unusual were Rondo’s 22 shot attempts? The last time he got that many looks from the field in a regular-season game came Feb. 19, 2014. Despite the resounding success of his Saturday performance, the team has already listed him as day-to-day in the wake of a strained finger that he sustained on his right hand. His status for Monday is now up in the air, but if James can’t go against Cleveland, Rondo would claim a lion’s share of the missing workload.
