3 years agoDetroit Tigers outfield prospect Riley Greene (foot) has a fractured foot and will be out for the foreseeable future. The good news is that he won't need surgery, but Greene's chances of opening the season on the big-league roster are now over. As a result, Victor Reyes figures to be the team's starting center fielder on Opening Day. Eric Haase and Willi Castro could also see more repetitions in the outfield. Greene was having a nice spring before fouling a ball off his foot in the Grapefruit League game against the New York Yankees on Thursday. MLB's No. 5 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline, will now have his MLB debut delayed for some time. However, in the long term, he profiles as Detroit's starting center fielder of the future.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
