Robbie Ray Notches 10 Strikeouts In Victory
5 years agoArizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Robbie Ray had a great outing on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays, leading the way in a 5-3 Diamondbacks win. Ray pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing five hits and two earned runs while striking out 10 hitters and issuing just one walk. He gave up a two-run homer to Lourdes Gurriel in the first inning but was otherwise dominant in the victory. Ray improves to 5-3 on the year, holding a 3.54 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and a 101/37 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 76 and 1/3 innings. His 11.92 K/9 rate currently ranks fifth in the MLB, and though he's walking a few too many batters, he hasn't given up as many homers as he has in years past. Continue to deploy Robbie Ray as a viable starter in all formats.
