6 years agoTexas Rangers catcher Robinson Chirinos has continued his awful form from August into the beginning of September. Chirinos had just a .189 batting average with two home runs in August, and so far through ten days of September he has just one home run and a .071 batting average. The concern for Chirinos owners will be the lack of power, as he has never been a hitter who owns a great batting average. However, the reason this has been a tough season for Chirinos is the inconsistency of playing time. With the Rangers out of contention in the AL West the team have been giving young utility player Isiah Kiner-Falefa plenty of time behind the plate. That has meant that Chirinos has been playing every other day for most of the second half of the season, making it extremely hard for him to find any consistency at the plate.--Ben Rolfe
