Sam Haggerty Contributes Late
4 years agoSeattle Mariners utility man Sam Haggerty entered Friday's game against the Boston Red Sox as a pinch runner in the eighth inning and immediately made his presence felt. After taking over for Luis Torrens at first base, Haggerty stole second and then scored on an Adam Ottavino throwing error to tie the game. He later drove in the go-ahead run with a double in the top of the tenth. Haggerty won't get too much playing time, but he can steal a base, with two already this season in only 27 at-bats. For fantasy managers in AL-only and deep mixed leagues, Haggerty could be worth a flier for speed.
