San Antonio Lands Gorgui Dieng On One-Year Deal

2 years agoCenter Gorgui Dieng is set to rejoin the San Antonio Spurs for the 2022-23 season, per Shams Charania of The Athletic. Dieng appeared in 16 games off the bench for San Antonio in '20-21, before playing last year with Atlanta, where he averaged a career-low 8.4 minutes per outing. With Jakob Poeltl holding down starting center duties for the Spurs, Dieng faces an uphill path to garnering significant minutes in the frontcourt, while Zach Collins stands to lead the team's second unit on the glass. The 32-year-old native of Senegal has proven to be a solid per minute contributor when utilized, but he can remain on the waiver wire in all formats until he sees his playing time trend upward.--Jesse Borek
