Sandy Baez Impressive in First MLB Appearance
7 years agoDetroit Tigers pitcher Sandy Baez tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings in his first MLB appearance against the Yankees on Monday, striking out four without allowing a single hit. He did walk four batters after taking over for starting pitcher Drew VerHagen, but it was otherwise a great start to the 24-year-old's MLB career. Baez's minor league numbers were encouraging as well, as he held a 3.90 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and a 45/19 K/BB ratio through 55 1/3 innings. He is not on the fantasy radar at the moment, but he is certainly a prospect to keep an eye on moving forward.
